VTB Capital to start issuing 'golden bonds'

Investment arm of Russia’s second largest bank – VTB Capital – will start issuing bonds tied to gold price. The new instrument enters Russia just when global downturn makes gold increasingly attractive.

You can actually buy yourself an European citizenship for a lousy € 70.000,00

Spain: Residency for foreigners who buy houses

Linp AP

The plan, unveiled by Trade Ministry secretary Jaime Garcia-Legaz Monday and expected to be approved in the coming weeks, would be aimed principally at Chinese and Russian buyers. Spain has more than 700,000 unsold houses.
Spain "needs to sell these homes" and that getting them off the market could help revive the nation's devastated construction industry.

The country's residency offer would beat others in bailed-out countries such as Ireland and Portugal, where residency papers are offered to foreigners buying houses worth more than (EURO)400,000 and (EURO)500,000, respectively. However, Latvia on the Baltic coast offers a cheaper deal, with property buyers eligible to receive residency permits if they purchase real estate in the capital Riga worth (EURO)140,000 or (EURO)70,000 in the countryside.

Gold & Silver Regain $1700 & $33 on 10 Ton Physical Gold Order

After being treated to the standard COMEX open waterfalls that saw gold smashed as low as $1684 and silver under $32.50, both metals made a vertical move to the upside around 10am EST.
Gold cleared $1700 trading as high as $1704, and silver is back above $33, reaching $33.38.

The impetus for the move appears to be a massive physical gold buy order in the range of 10 metric tons.

We can also confirm that SDBullion was in fact approached Wednesday by a UK hedge fund manger seeking the acquisition of 20 metric tons of gold in good delivery bar form, which had been physically tested for purity above .9995 within the past 5 years.
The fact that a London fund manager has resorted to contacting US retail bullion dealers in attempt to fill a 20 ton gold order speaks volumes to the availability of physical gold (or lack thereof) for delivery in London and the extreme tightness in the physical market.

BBC's 'Panorama' killed report exposing silver market manipulation

Ned Naylor-Leyland, investment director of Cheviot Asset Management in London, interviewed by Max Keiser on yesterday's edition of "The Keiser Report" on the Russia Today television network, revealed that the British Broadcasting Corp.'s investigative journalism TV program, "Panorama," killed a report exposing silver market manipulation even after doing substantial interviews that provided evidence of manipulation.

Ned added that the failure of the mainstream news media to confront and expose it is what most sustains market manipulation.

Naylor-Leyland's segment of yesterday's "Keiser Report" begins at the 12:37 mark. The link to this must watch interview is here (link)

Secret IMF report: Hide gold loans and swaps for market manipulation

You need to click on the Pdf File

the quote is from page 4.
8. The demand for gold for fabrication purposes, in particular from the jewelry and electronics industries, has consistently out-paced the supply from current production over the past 20 years. The so-called market deficit--i.e., physical demand lessmine production-has been widening over the years and filled by direct salesfrom official and private sector stocks, and from gold lending by many central banks, which have resulted in salesin the spot market by the bullion banks, who borrowed the gold.’

and p7:
14. The current demand for gold for fabrication and industrial use has outstripped current production by 40 percent per annum over the last decade, and this gap between demand and current production-the so-called “market deficit”-has widened over the years (Table 1). This deficit has been filled by sales of gold stocks by the private sector (i.e., scrap gold) and central banks and, increasingly, by central bank gold lending.

p11:
The increased mobilization of central bank reserves through gold lending operations has had a depressing influence on the spot price for gold since on-lent gold is usually associated with sales of gold in the spot market (Section IV).

26:
At the same time, gold lending has led to accelerated supply of gold to the spot market, which has tended to put downward pressure on the spot price of gold.
