Sensing the valley behind the hill...

Post by Gwyde »

The Jan 26 post: Miners will continue to disappoint was more ominous than ever. With the benefit of hindsight, HUI/Gold improved further till March, while the yellow metal set its 2019 top by mid Feb. The plunge of gold miners has however been precipitous as illustrated in the weekly update of the Gold Miner Pulse page. It is yet uncertain whether last week's 'pause in the downtrend' will turn out to be a bottoming process.

There largely was enough new material for a fresh blog post along these lines: Miners disappointing

Daniela Cambone interviewing Jeff Pontius, CEO of Corvus Gold.

Daniela Cambone interviewing Jeff Pontius, CEO of Corvus Gold.
Junior miners have not received the same attention from investors as the seniors have this year, following the precious metals’ rally, but it won’t be long until they catch up, this according to Jeff Pontius, CEO of Corvus Gold.

“I think that if we should stability at $1,500 [an ounce], that whole curve inflection that we saw in the last gold bull market will happen,” Pontius told Kitco News on the sidelines of the Precious Metals Summit in Beaver Creek. “The purchasing of gold exposure will go down market into the junior names and we’ll see that terrific takeoff that we saw in 2009.”

Some meta-statistics

Today, this forum counts 549 members. No less than 357 of them or slightly over 65% have joined within the last twelve months.
However all of them are only reading. Even among the 450 members having registered within the last two years, less than a handful of these ever gave posting it a try. That implies that all really active posters are found among the 99 experienced members. Moreover, only 22 of them have posted over 100 contributions; hence they remain the backbone of content providers.
