It is interesting that whilst governments and their central banks choose to implement Keynesian-based policies when trying to quickly fix their economies, they cannot bring themselves to rid their country’s reserves of the barbarous relic. No domestic prices, in the West, are currently tied to gold, ‘nor does gold sit in reserve for any of the West’s currencies. So why are they so concerned?

Other reasons for the growing concerns for Germany’s gold are due to the fact that they are effectively backing the Euro. Should the ECB and Euro collapse, the gold, held by the US, could easily transfer into US ownership as collateral for the previously agreed dollar swap arrangements with the ECB. The World Gold Council has long cited the euro area sovereign debt crisis as the reason for the net gold buying activities by Central Banks, but this may not be much use if your gold isn’t in your own vault.

The Battle Lines for Gold & Silver Are Set

Link Artikel

Two events of note took place over the weekend. Silver once again moved above $34 and gold moved above $1,700. $1,764 and $38 are the numbers that are important and we are slowly moving back toward the “real” battle lines.

Last week we booked an order for $5,000,000 in silver. That’s right, one order for $5M! It wasn’t so long ago that an order for $100,000 was uncommon, but now orders for over a million are not unusual at all.

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

North America’s if not the world’s leading gold advocate — trader and mining entrepreneur Jim Sinclair — will speak at the spring dinner meeting of the Committee for Monetary Research and Education on Thursday, May 17, in New York City.

Sinclair, whose appearance at GATA’s Gold Rush 2011 conference in London last August was his first conference appearance in eight years, will join, among other speakers, monetary historian and GATA consultant Edwin Vieira and QB Asset Management partner Paul Brodsky, whose market commentaries often have been cited in these dispatches.

Also among the speakers will be Prince Michael of Liechtenstein, president of Industrie & Finanzkontor, a financial services company based in Vaduz, who is also founding president of the European Center of Austrian Economics Foundation and a renowned advocate of free markets.

The title of the speaking program is "Money and the Corporate State."

Your secretary/treasurer will be among the discussion moderators.

This CMRE meeting will be held again at the beautiful Union League Club in Manhattan, just a short walk south of Grand Central Station but still far enough north of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York to escape the stench. The club’s food and drink are always great. Admission will cost $175 for CMRE members and spouses and $185 for others.

The meeting’s agenda is posted here: http://www.gata.org/files/CMREAgenda-05-17-2012.doc

A reservations form is posted here: http://www.gata.org/files/CMREReservati ... 7-2012.doc

Inquiries may be directed to CMRE President Elizabeth Currier at CMRE@BellSouth.net.

This CMRE meeting is sure to be interesting and fun and your secretary/treasurer hopes to see many friends of GATA there.

CHRIS POWELL, Secretary/Treasurer
Gold Anti-Trust Action Committee Inc.

CHICAGO, March 12 | Mon Mar 12, 2012 4:35pm EDT

CHICAGO, March 12 (Reuters) - CME Group Inc said its chief executive officer Craig Donohue will step down at year end, when his contract expires.

He will be replaced by current president Phupinder Gill, the exchange operator said. Executive Chairman Terrence Duffy will take on the additional role of president, the company said.

Donohue has run the CME since 2004, steering the owner of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange through the acquisitions of its two largest rivals -- the Chicago Board of Trade and the New York Mercantile Exchange -- and a global expansion that saw the establishment of a London-based clearinghouse.

Donohue, who has worked at CME for 23 years, called his decision "bittersweet," and added that he is "ready to explore new challenges."

Goed artikel...
