I noticed the server being unreachable this early evening. From the logs, I can see it was not reachable between [02/May/2012:19:15:48 +0200] and [02/May/2012:19:39:07 +0200].
I couldn't ping the server from various locations, and the server itself didn't show downtime, so the conclusion is that the network between the server and the internet was out in that timeframe. I am in now in contact with the hosting provider to find out what happened in their datacenter. Possibly a network switch broke down, and a fallback switch didn't activate automatically, or something similar to that.
Update:
The reason is actually an old issue, there is a DDoS on servers hosted in the datacenter. This is overloading the network capacity, which impacts our server too. Engineers are working to isolate the affected IP addresses. There is hardware in place to filter out the IP's in case of an attack, but this still is manual task to activate, which - in case of a broad range of IP's - takes a longer time. Apologies for the delays experienced.

Re: outage
New server new challenges. The host had a critical issue, which is temporary solved. Later today it requires another bounce, which shouldn't take more then a couple of minutes.

Re: outage
Actually, this is typical of moving to a new environment. Everything under control, except for the pieces that are new. Over time, those "new pieces" should fade away as no longer new, and not bother us anymore.Rasta wrote:New server new challenges. The host had a critical issue, which is temporary solved.
